Residential Rental Registration and Inspection

The Residential Rental Registration and Inspection Ordinance is now easier for the citizens of Richardson to understand, especially the tenants of residential rentals.  Interestingly the fee was raised from $50 to $75 to cover interior inspections of residential rentals back in 2011.  Now that they do not force the tenant to get an interior inspection, are they going to reduce the fee??

Reasons Richardson will get a Warrant

This does not only affect tenants in Richardson.  According to Mayor Maczka, owner-occupied should be treated the same.

Reasons Richardson Will Request a Warrant.

There is a lot of subjectivity going on here.... if the inspector feels like??

The last point,... If you are a tenant in Richardson, they can get a warrant to get into your home depending on what is going on at your neighbor's home....  My city is gone!

Rental inspection case dismissed - second time

This was a surprise. Our case was dismissed for the second time. After the city filed their brief on the 10th of July, we thought they were going through with contesting the appeal.

It appears that a tenant of a residential rental does have the right to deny the rental inspections and the landlord cannot be forced to open up the tenant’s home for an inspection in RichardsonTexas. Wait landlords…. They may be coming into your home next…. Owner-occupied…. Everyone needs to have their property searched at least once a year…. A citizen might be giving code enforcement officers a little more power than we aught to. The way they are using the nuisance abatement is a perfect example of another abuse of power.

Rental Inspections

What do you think the Richardson city council is up to now?? The other night we got a survey call regarding the Richardson Residential Rental Registration and Inspection Program. Surveying??   Richardson Texas is surveying select citizens to find out how they feel about the rental registration and inspection program??

And; Finally we have the rental inspection program on the Richardson Texas City Council Agenda.

Finally on the City's agenda but probably not the way they thought it would be.

Ulterior Motives?? Rental Inspections/Repair Leads

Wendy Moore spoke with one of our neighbors putting a 'For Rent' sign out for her property. She voiced her apprehension with the rental registration and inspection program in Richardson Texas. She told how it was curious that when she was cited for something that needed a repair (i.e. paint), she receives a phone call offering that specific service that she was cited for.

This is a very curious practice to me if it is true and I have no reason to think otherwise and I would not put it past a city to do this.

We encourage landlords to document this type of coincidence.
